Delivered from Drugs Initiative
In August 2018, we launched our second initiative called D. F. D. I (DELIVERED FROM DRUGS INITIATIVE), a campaign geared towards drug abuse prevention among young people. To achieve the campaign objective, we partnered with the Gwandu Emirate, Ministry of Information, Education and Faith-based Organizations. In one year, we were able to directly reached 1507 young people (in schools, teens clubs, churches and neighborhoods) and distributed over 1445 drug abuse prevention booklets.
As part of efforts to bring necessary stakeholders together, a one-day symposium was organized for parents and teachers with a view of finding ways to engage youths as an alternative to drug abuse. We had 85 persons in attendance. We also had multiple appearances on You & Your Health Program broadcasted on Kebbi Radio.
Our efforts came to limelight in 2018 when our founder received the NYSC Award of Commendation For Development in the state given by the governing board of the NYSC.
On the 1st of October 2019, we hosted a public discourse for women and mothers on the challenges of young people and their roles in solving them. There were 44participants,3speakers and 4panelists from twelve organizations namely: TAMAR-SARC, STEWARDS OF GRACE MINISTRY, NDLEA, NAPTIP, SCM UNEC,NSCDC,FRSC,FIDA,PEACE HOUSE,CITY GIRLS SECONDARY SCHOOL,GIRLS GUIDE,DIOCESAN WOMEN ORGANIZATION.
On the 6th of November 2021,we held a Webinar tagged: Drug Abuse Among Teenagers: What Parents should know aimed at shedding on the peculiarities of the drug problem in Nigeria.
