Our Work

TOBACCO-FREE GENERATION CAMPAIGN

Every day in Nigeria, 25,000 children aged 10–14 smoke cigarettes.
Early tobacco use harms brain development and increases lifelong addiction risk.
Tobacco is cheap, easy to access, and sold in flashy packaging. Despite this, Nigeria’s tobacco regulation is weak. Taxes only recently rose from 10 to 30% still far below the 75% WHO and 50% ECOWAS recommendations.

That’s why Busaosowo Foundation launched the Tobacco-Free Generation Campaign to educate children and teens, empower them to resist peer pressure, and make informed, healthy choices.
We won’t stop until government and key stakeholders take real action to shield young Nigerians from the grip of the tobacco industry.

Creating credible Alternatives for young people.

Being young comes with its own challenges. Young people are very curious as they grow which is why drug abuse is attractive to them. At Busaosowo Foundation, we believe that we need to create alternative pathways for young people to explore their curiosity and unleash their creativity whether through sports, arts or vocational skill development. Through this center, we target to train 50 teenagers yearly.

This is why we established the Free-to-Barb Skill Center in Umuisi-Ugbawka.

The center is jointly managed by Foundation of Knowledge High School Umuasi-Ugawka, Enugu State, Nigeria and Busaosowo Foundation.

We believe in a holistic approach to drug abuse prevention that provides credible alternatives that propels young people towards healthier and more fulfilling choices.

choose life club
Every year, we are privileged to work with several schools as we help young people build resistance against drug abuse. In each of these schools, we want a sustainable platform that leverages on the impact of the interventions we bring.

Choose Life Club enables benefiting schools to build on the impact of the drug use prevention intervention we deliver.
Choose Life Club is a drug-free club that seeks to promote healthy behaviors among teenagers and young adults by empowering them with life, social and vocational skills.

At the club, young people are challenged to innovate ways to contribute to the development of their communities and promote peace, progress and prosperity. They are encouraged to engage in community service activities.

The first Choose Life Club was inaugurated on the 9th of February 2023 at Fountain of Knowledge High School Umuisi-Ugbawka, Enugu State, Nigeria.
Our motto is: Empowering young people to make informed choices.
